How you can support the Retention of CSS Asterix

Help Ensure Canada Does Not Lose a Proven Capability

TAKE ACTION

CSS Asterix is not a future concept — it is a capability Canada already has, already operates, and already relies on.

Without timely decisions on resources and funding, this capability risks being lost.

Why Your Voice Matters

TAKE ACTION

Decisions about CSS Asterix are not taking place in the abstract — they are happening now.

At present:

  • There is no funding identified beyond the end of 2027
  • There are no dedicated human resources assigned to manage the Asterix  file

Without action, Canada risks allowing an existing, operational capability to disappear — not because it failed, but because it was not sustained.

What's at Stake

If CSS Asterix is not retained, Canada will lose:

  • A fully operational, in-service capability supporting naval operations today
  • A Made and Operated in Canada solution, built on Canadian expertise
  • A platform that enables flexibility and interoperability with allies
  • The momentum, knowledge, and workforce behind its success
  • A force multiplier for our military by utilizing trained and experienced Merchant Mariners.

Once lost, this kind of capability is not easily or quickly replaced.
